ClosetMonster's
"How to" Clinic
Very often, we see pictures from magazines and other websites that have that look to them,
as though it could almost be a masking scene. Well, they can be with a little help!
I often receive questions about how to do photomanipulations. I've even had people ask if
the pictures are real. (I wish they were!) I'd like to start giving a few tips about how to do
certain elements and effects. These are just a few methods that I use. There are limitless
ways to achieve different effects. Really, the best way, is to simply get in there and play
with the imaging software.
Please feel free to send any pictures you've created and would like to share. I should let you
know, I like to see some effort made in the pictures. Don't confuse "not enough" for "subtle."
I know you can do more than simply blacking out the eyes, and saying "It's a mask!"
I'm going to start with some real basics, so bear with me if you already know this.

7/22/00 Piecing things together: Let's go through the steps of piecing two
pictures together.
7/29/00 JD's Peeling Effect: I thought this tutorial was lost, but thankfully, the
original was intact! It gives a great step-by-step on how to create a
realistic peeling or stretching effect that can be applied in many ways!
